The Inuit were traditionally nomads and settled in different parts of Canada in search of food. Different dialects and cultures developed among the people who had settled in different regions. There are in all 8 major ethnic groups of Inuit living in Canada. These include Labrador, Ungava, Iglulik, Baffin Island, Netsilik, Copper, Caribou and Mackenzie Inuit.
The Labrador Inuit or Labradormiut, as they call themselves, have occupied almost all the Atlantic coast of Labrador.
